Dec. 7, 2017
Adding SITAD services to its GSA Schedule 36 will let Iron Mountain assist government-agencies with disposal of their IT equipment. This will add this to their other services, like document support and storage security.

Storage and information-management services company, Iron Mountain Incorporated adds services for Secure eWaste and IT Asset Disposition (or SITAD) to its existing General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule 36 contract. SITAD follows standards set by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) to help ensure federal agencies dispose of their IT equipment securely and responsively

By following a defined disposal processes, Iron Mountain helps federal agencies protect against transparency to reducing the risk of data breaches and regulatory penalties when disposing of sensitive equipment like hard drives. The company also offers recycling services that support the National Strategy for Electronics Stewardship to help minimize eWaste in landfills.

"Agencies' discarded assets are kept highly secure throughout the entire disposition process, with secure transport that includes GPS tracking and a complete chain-of-custody audit trail from collection through processing,” explains Michael Lewis, vice president and general manager of Iron Mountain Government Services.

"Iron Mountain's addition of SITAD services to the GSA Schedule makes it easier for agencies to procure a comprehensive suite of NARA-compliant records management and storage solutions that span the full information lifecycle, including the responsible and secure disposition of their outdated IT assets."
