HUBZone Certification Extends Federal Contracts to Distributor

June 23, 2017
The HUBZone program levels the playing field for small and large companies by extending federal procurement opportunities to small businesses in urban and rural communities.

Under the United States Small Business Administration (SBA), Electro Enterprises Inc. is now a certified Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) business. In receiving this certification, Electro Enterprises will receive up to 3% of its budget in primary contracts from government agencies. This access to federal procurement opportunities will help it to grow.

The HUBZone program was created in 1998 to support the growth of small businesses in urban and rural areas. It aids in the creation of job markets and helps to support businesses involved in community growth. To be considered for HUB certification, a company must be located in a HUBZone—an area with statistically proven economic needs and a high demand for job creation, and employ local citizens for up to 25% of its workforce at the headquarters in the HUBZone.

Electro Enterprises is a stocking distributor of interconnect, electromechanical, wire/cable, and wire harness management in Oklahoma City. It serves military/aerospace, industrial, commercial markets. The company now adds its HUB certification to its Small Business and Woman-Owned business titles.

“We are thrilled to become a HUBZone certified company, a program that has helped thousands of small businesses across the country,” says Andy Enright, director of operations. “This will enable us to become even stronger partners with the country’s largest OEMs and Tier 1 contractors.”
