Avnet Is Now Silego Technology’s Exclusive Global Distributor

Silego will start casting out more fishing lines for its configurable mixed-signal chips with an exclusive global distribution deal with Avnet.

Silego Technology, which supplies reconfigurable mixed-signal chips for devices like smartphones, wearables, and sensors, has flown under the radar for years.

But now Silego will start casting out more fishing lines for its configurable mixed-signal chips – also known as CMICs – with an exclusive global distribution deal with Avnet. The Santa Clara-based firm, which was founded in 2001, has sold more than 2.7 billion CMICs.

Using nonvolatile memory and software tools, electrical engineers can program the mixed-signal chips in minutes and integrate analog, logic, and power functions. Silego claims that the chips can minimize component count, board space, and power consumption.

The one-time programmable chips can replace mixed-signal standard products, Silego says on its website. The chips – sold under the brand GreenPak – can also be used for hardware safety and reset functions in software-coded devices like microcontrollers, which are widely used in connected sensors and other Internet of Things.

Avnet’s application engineering and prototyping resources will further shine a light on these configurable products, said John Teegan, Silego’s chief executive officer, in a statement. Silego already works with regional distributors in Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China.

“A global partnership with Avnet will certainly take away any secrecy about Silego and will provide the many benefits of Configurable Mixed-signal ICs to the market at large,” said Rich Wawrzyniak, a principal analyst at Semico Research, in a statement.
