Heard in the Channel: Arrow’s McNally receives Gail S. Carter Award

Distribution executive recognized for dedication to the electronics supply chain; ECIA honors others for distinguished service, marketing excellence

The Electronic Components Industry Association held its second annual Executive Conference in Chicago last week, and Arrow Electronics executive Brian McNally took top honors, winning the group’s coveted Gail S. Carter Award. McNally could not accept his award in person, as he was one of about 30 ECIA members who couldn’t make it to Chicago due to complications from Hurricane Sandy. But that didn’t keep McNally’s peers from singing his praises and thanking him for his many years of service to ECIA’s predecessor group the National Association of Electrical Distributors and his work to form the current ECIA.

“Brian is a true leader and great friend of the association,” said TTI, Inc’s Michael Knight, who presented the award. “He demonstrated a huge commitment to ECIA through his involvement while serving his assignment for Arrow in Europe. His European perspective added high value in helping form policy and activities with a global landscape in mind. It has been a privilege to work with him.”

McNally is president of Arrow’s Global Components Specialty Businesses. He joined NEDA’s board of directors in 2005 and served as the association president in 2010. He was also instrumental in the merger of NEDA and the Electronic Components Association (ECA); the two officially became one nearly two years ago, forming ECIA, which represents distributors, manufacturers and manufacturers’ representatives in the electronics supply chain.

ECIA also recognized six other members with Distinguished Service Awards: Jim Harper, Harper & Two; Paul Krystek, IBM; Robert Logan, Kruvand Associates; Dr. Laura Meade, Texas Christian University; Melanie Pizzey, TTI, Inc.; and Joe Walker, Phoenix Contact

Also at the ECIA Executive Conference, the association recognized several members for their outstanding marketing efforts, bestowing the annual Electronics Choice Industry Awards (the “ECIAs”) on nine companies. Winners included Arrow Electronics, Avnet Electronics Marketing, EAO Corp., Mouser Electronics, Newark element14 and TTI Inc. Honorable mentions went to: Allied Electronics, Marsh Electronics, Mouser Electronics, Newark element14, Panasonic Electric Works Corp. of America and TTI. Arrow Electronics received the Best in Show award for the second straight year.
