Electromechanical switch manufacturer NKK Switches announced the appointment of Brian Thorsen as its marketing manager. Thorsen is responsible for developing marketing strategies and tactics that drive customer growth at NKK Switches, according to the company. He also will focus on delivering a compelling value proposition that “reinforces the firm’s strong position in the swtich market while building customer loyalty and brand equity among target customers,” the company said in a statement announcing the appointment.
“Brian is crucial to helping NKK increase our focus on the customer and expand into new markets,” said NKK President Michael Wada. “His track record of creating effective integrated marketing plans and communicating value propositions will help us grow our footprint and support all our customers and distribution partners.”
Thorsen has more than 15 years’ experience in the electronic components industry. Before joining NKK, he worked for Freescale Semiconductor, where he managed integrated marketing plans for several products, including radio frequency, analog, and digital signal controllers for industrial, automotive, military and cellular infrastructure markets.
In other news, Avnet Electronics Marketing and independent electronic components distributor Intercomp USA announced new appointments recently.
Avnet EM named Kevin Yapp senior vice president of digital transformation. In the newly created role, Yapp is responsible for driving Avnet EM’s digital strategy, including evaluating all new resources and investments, the company said. He will lead an Avnet EM-wide global digital project management organization and will report directly to Avnet EM Global President Gerry Fay.
Yapp served in a series of leadership roles at United Kingdom-based Premier Farnell from 2003 to 2015, including chief innovation officer, marketing director of Europe and Asia Pacific, chief marketing officer, and most recently, chief strategy and marketing officer.
Independent distributor of electronic components Intercomp USA announced that it has appointed industry veteran and defense industry expert Thomas Campion to its board of directors.
With more than 20 years of experience as a Naval Special Warfare Officer (SEAL) in the U.S. Navy, Campion has served in operational leadership roles, from SEAL Platoon Commander to commanding a Joint U.S. Special Operations Task Force and conducting peacetime and combat missions around the world before retiring in 2000.
"Thomas joins Intercomp at a vital time, when we are experiencing great growth within the industry," said David Hofer, executive director and board member. "I can think of no one more qualified to help us accelerate our growth, differentiate our offerings, and further cement the leadership of Intercomp's business."
