Transportation and logistics firm expands business with addition of international freight-forwarder

Michigan-based transportation, logistics and supply chain management company Supply Chain Solutions has acquired Vanik International, Inc., an Illinois-based international freight forwarder. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition expands SCS’ operations and will help open new markets around the world for its varied customer base, according to company executives.

“As we expand our offerings and grow our company, Vanik provides a key service for SCS customers," said CEO Les Brand. "Vanik has tremendous export market expertise and deep relationships with custom houses around the globe, and will help us open new markets for our clients."

Vanik handles project cargo, oversize vehicle exports, temperature-controlled container shipments, letter of credit and direct collection letter shipments for a variety of clients, from food companies to heavy equipment manufacturers.

SCS was founded in 2001 and is a global provider of transportation, logistics and technology solutions.
