Company expands RZ microprocessor (MPU) family to address the high-performance needs of a wider range of HMI-based applications.

Renesas Electronics America, a provider of advanced semiconductor solutions, has expanded its RZ microprocessor (MPU) family to address the high-performance needs of a wider range of HMI-based applications.

With the addition of the new RZ/G1N and RZ/G1H Groups of MPUs, Renesas is making it easier for embedded engineers to identify the best-fit solution for their HMI applications, according to the company. Those applications range from elegant touch-panel displays for home appliances, to industrial Ethernet masters with integrated HMI, to embedded computer vision systems that enable artificial intelligence.

According to Renesas, its new RZ/G1H MPU is the highest performance member of the RZ/G Series. The RZ/G1H delivers a 25,528 DMIPS embedded performance through its quad ARM Cortex-A7 and quad Cortex-A15 CPU architecture. This performance is further emboldened by two full high-definition (FHD) H.264 video codecs, four video inputs and outputs, a PowerVR G6400 3D Graphics Engine, and 64 bits of 800 MHz DDR3 external memory interface.
