Distributor expands electronic components offering; also adds to frequency control capabilities with access to manufacturer app.

Top distributor Allied Electronics announced this spring the addition of 15 new vendors to its electronic component product offering. The additions cover semiconductors, platforms and development tools, display vendors, optoelectronics, crystals and oscillators, and more, and is part of the distributor’s effort to “Globalize the Offer” by syncing its product offering with that of its parent company, electrocomponents plc, which operates outside of North America.

“We are aggressively expanding our product line in this area and are focused on providing a one-stop shopping experience for our customers,” said Allied product director Dan Radic. “The addition of these new lines gives our customers more choices, more possibilities, and more solutions.”

The new vendors in the Allied portfolio include Lumileds (optoelectronics); Newhaven Display (display vendors); Adafruit, Arduino, MikroElektronica (platform and development tools); Comchip and Diodes, Inc. (semiconductors); Aker, Crystek Crystals Corp., Ecliptek Corp., Fox Electronics, Micro Crystal, Mercury, Raltron, and Qantek (crystals and oscillators).

“This is just the first step in building and strengthening this important product line,” said Radic. “We’re hard at work right now adding even more important suppliers and important labels to our portfolio.”

At the same time, Allied has added a streamlined customer support option through its new partnership with Ecliptek. Allied customers can now access Ecliptek’s Quick Quote app and SmartSearch parametric tool. Allied said it will accept all valid quotations generated by Quick Quote, and noted that engineering customers can now quickly locate crystals and oscillators based on their individual priorities—including available factory stock—via the SmartSearch option.

“This arrangement will help us to better serve our mutual customers,” said Radic. “Ecliptek is a recognized market leader in frequency control, and their intense focus on exceptional customer support, coupled with an unwavering commitment to quality, perfectly matches Allied’s core values. Bringing more of their products to our customers is a win for everyone.”

“Allied Electronics continues to demonstrate their commitment to focusing on the customer experience through the Globalize the Offer initiative,” said Robert Zarrow, vice president of global customer support at Ecliptek. “Integration of the SmartSearch and Quick Quote apps immediately increases Allied’s crystal and oscillator product availability by more than 3,000,000 unique part numbers.”
