March 27, 2012—NKK Switches today announced the appointment of Michael Wada to company president. Wada succeeds Kiyoko Toyama, who is retiring after 13 years at the company’s helm.

NKK Switches is a leading designer and manufacturer of electromechanical switches and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nihon Kaiheiki Kogyo.

Wada has been with NKK since 2006, previously serving as vice president of business development. Prior to his work at NKK, he held senior management positions at a variety of corporations across multiple industries, including Xerox.

Toyama, who has been with NKK Switches for more than 31 years, will serve as a senior advisor to the company through April 2012.

“Michael’s forward-thinking vision, savvy management and work ethic are the talents needed to aggressively grow the company in this economic environment,” Toyama said in a statement announcing Wada’s promotion. “I have the utmost confidence in Michael’s ability to lead the company to new heights.”

“As a company, we will be focused on growth and will continue to deliver the high quality switches to our customers and partners that have made this company successful for the past 30 years,” Wada added. “We are fortunate to have worked with Kiyoko, and I believe she has laid the groundwork for many more exciting years to come for NKK Switches. We wish Kiyoko well in her retirement from corporate life.”
NKK manufactures more than 3.5 million toggle, rocker, pushbutton, slide, rotary, DIP rotary, keypad and keylock switches, each of which can be used as the foundation of a customized design.
