Don Akery Named President of TTI Americas

Don Akery, senior vice president of global business operations at electronics distributor TTI, has been promoted to president for TTI Americas. The role change will go into effect September, and he will report to TTI’s global president Mike Morton.

“Since joining TTI a mere four-plus-years ago, Don has been instrumental in the development and management of TTI operations globally,” said Paul Andrews, TTI’s chief executive, in a statement. “In short, he has been core to some of the most critical aspects of our business.”

The promotion follows a recent major departure from TTI. This year, its former president of American sales, Philip Gallagher, accepted a job as president of Avnet’s core distribution business to supervise supplier relationships, global procurement, and supply chain solutions.

After a decade as vice president of rival distributor Arrow Electronics, Akery joined TTI with the same title in 2013. He had a central role in sorting through the acquisition of Sager Electronics, which TTI bought for an undisclosed sum in 2012. Since 2015, he has been in charge of warehousing, logistics, sales, and supply chain services

Fort Worth-based TTI is one of world’s largest distributors, specializing in passive, interconnect, electromechanical, and discrete components. Last year, the 46-year-old subsidiary of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, earned $2.2 billion, up from $1.95 billion in 2015. TTI also runs Mouser Electronics, which it acquired in 2000.

“Being counted among the team at TTI, being part of the TTI culture is a rewarding experience,” said Akery in a statement. “I have appreciated the opportunity extended to me up to this point and am happy to have been chosen to lead the Americas team.”
