Distributor collects 154,000 pounds of used electronics for recycling program in partnership with Denver-area organizations

Top electronics distributor Arrow Electronics hosted the recent Mile High Electronics Recycling event in Denver, collecting more than 150,000 pounds of used electronics that the distributor will recycle through environmentally and socially responsible means.

The event was held August 11 and was run in partnership with Comcast, Denver Public Works/Denver Recycles and Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The organizations collected computer hardware and peripherals, home office machines, mobile devices, television and gaming equipment and small appliances from Denver-area residents.

“Arrow applauds Colorado residents for legally and securely disposing of electronics by participating in this event,” Mark Majeske, president, global reverse logistics for Englewood, Colo.,-based Arrow, said in announcing the event. “Arrow assures residents that all data will be removed from collected items and that electronics will be repurposed, donated to charity or recycled through the industry’s most socially and environmentally responsible methods.”

Arrow provides asset recovery, data sanitization, testing, recycling, remarketing, donation and resale services for a wide range of electronic equipment through its reverse logistics business. Some of the equipment gathered at the August 11 event will be repurposed for charity in partnership with Comcast, Denver Recycles and the Denver Broncos.

Arrow ranked second on Global Purchasing’s 2013 Top 50 Distributors list, with $20.4 billion in sales.
