Avnet Showcases New IoT Hardware, Software Solutions at CES 2018

Jan. 11, 2018
Following the launch of its new IoT services suite in December and ConnectIoT platform in January, Avnet reveals new partnerships and initiatives aimed toward driving innovation in the Internet of Things.

At the CES 2018 show, currently underway until January 12 in Las Vegas, Avnet showcases its IoTConnect platform designed to help customers incorporate Internet of Things (IoT) solutions into their business strategies. It will also unveil new tools for developers looking to build their own products for the IoT.

Released at the start of the new year, IoTConnect software leverages Microsoft Azure to distribute and analyze data from local devices via edge computing and the Cloud. It includes digital solutions for Smart Factory, Smart Asset Monitoring, Smart Connected Worker, Smart Building, Smart Healthcare, Smart Retail, Smart OfficeSmart Fleet Management and Smart Warehouse. Visitors can learn about IoTConnect at booth #2609, Tech East, Westgate.

Avnet is also presenting its new IoT services, which it launched this December. From business strategy planning to Cloud and analytics support, these services listed below are meant to help developers quicken their IoT products’ time to market.

  • IoT Advisory Services helps customers create IoT roadmap strategies, develop business cases, audit and prepare assessments, and create proof-of-value workshops.
  • IoT Device Design and Build Services helps product developers overcome challenges related to design, manufacturing, technology selection, and inventory management.
  • IoT Cloud and Digital Services offers a suite of services for cloud and analytics support, artificial intelligence and machine learning, web and mobile app development, connectivity, and other digital tools.
  • IoT Lifecycle Services aids in the deployment of IoT solutions, from field installation and maintenance to device management, firmware and security updates, and warranty coverage programs.

Then at the Hardware Studio located at Sands, Level 1 in the Eureka Park booth #50212 and #50211, Avnet will showcase its new online community sites for developers, alongside partners Kickstarter and Dragon Innovations. The Hardware Studio Toolkit, which is a developer community site with tutorials and webinars that show designers how to launch their own Kickstarter projects. Visitors can also learn about the Hardware Studio Connection, which offers hands-on support to makers from Avnet and Dragon Innovation engineers.

Additionally, Avnet will be launching its Path to Prototype box at the Hardware Studio, which is designed to help startups begin their hardware projects. Path to Prototype features support from Avnet, Dragon Innovation, Hackster.io, MakerSource.io Newark, and element14. Creators and engineers can also sign up for one-on-one sessions with experts from Avnet and Dragon Innovation to get advice on factory selection, sourcing, manufacturing, and other topics.

Avnet will also announce its new partnerships at the show to integrate its IoT software into hardware. For example, in the retail sector, Avnet partners with NXP Semiconductors to create Smart Shelves and other products that allow retailers to continuously monitor inventory levels. This lets them streamline inventory, while monitoring customer demographics so they may improve their targeted-ad and marketing campaigns.

Finally, during the evening of Thursday, January 11, Avnet will be the title sponsor of The Not Impossible Awards, and will be the presenting sponsor of The Not Impossible Connectivity Award.

Following CES, Avnet will launch a series of customer training sessions to help break down the complexity of building IoT solutions and scaling them for mass distribution.
