Littelfuse Buys Into Thermistors and Probes For Industrial Control

Littelfuse has acquired U.S. Sensor Corporation, a supplier of thermistors and probe assemblies used in temperature sensors, in its latest attempt to diversify beyond its core circuit protection business.

“U.S. Sensor expands our existing sensor portfolio in several key electronics and industrial end markets, including home automation, HVAC and appliances,” said Deepak Nayar, senior vice president of Littelfuse’s electronics business, in a statement. “The business has strong design capabilities that are complementary to our growth initiatives.”

With the deal, the Chicago-based Littelfuse gains a wide array of negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistors as well as probes and assemblies. U.S. Sensor’s other products include thin film platinum resistance temperature detectors, which are also known as RTD devices.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
