Electrocomponents Hires Global Supply Chain President as Digital Sales Blossom

Electrocomponents has hired a new global supply chain president, Debbie Lentz, who will handle logistics for an electronic distributor stocked with more than a half a million parts increasingly ordered on the internet and not from catalogues or at trade conferences.

Lentz, who was previously in charge of supply chains for Kraft Foods and Toys R Us, takes control of Electrocomponents’ vast international operations. The company, which now generates around two-thirds of its revenue from online sales, ships more than 50,000 packages every day from 32 locations around the world.

Electrocomponents announced this month that it had passed £1 billion of annual digital revenues, up from £246 million in 2007. The company, whose revenues increased from £1,291.1 million to £1,511.7 million over the last fiscal year, runs 60 websites worldwide registering around 10 million visits each month.

“Debbie’s multi-national experience and track record in global supply chain will be invaluable in helping us accelerate growth and efficiency across our business, as we progress on our journey to become first choice for our customers, suppliers, and employees,” said Lindsley Ruth, chief executive of Electrocomponents, in a statement.
